While we're sure that our beach hotel has plenty to keep you happy and entertained, when you're on your holidays it's nice to get out and about and make the most of any activities on offer. The good news is that there are plenty of things to do in Cyprus, no matter what your specific interests.

If you've chosen our hotel in Cyprus then you've definitely chosen wisely; the Columbia Beach Hotel is located in one of the most beautiful and unspoilt areas of the island: Pissouri. If you like to explore the more natural side of your holiday destination, rather than the busier cities with their clubs and bars, then you're in exactly the right place.

While we're far removed from the wild savannahs of Africa, here in Cyprus you can take a jeep safari into the rolling hills, and enjoy the tranquillity of the lesser-reached, remote areas of the vicinity, where the twitchers among you can see how many bird species you can spot – there’s nearly 400 on the island, so you’ll have plenty to try and tick off the list! There are also various types of lizards, toads, skinks and chameleons to keep a watchful eye out for - though the latter may be harder to spy!! The mammal you're most likely to see on your journey is the Cypriot Mouflon; a curly horned sheep indigenous to the island, it's reported to be one of 2 species that all other sheep descend from, so they're very important to our farming history.

If you want to combine a safari with a love of the water, then you can take a glass bottomed boat or a sea safari on a trip to nearby Paphos. Of course, by staying at a beach hotel in Cyprus, you're already in a prime position to enjoy the calm, tepid waters of the Mediterranean, but unless you take a boat you won't be able to see the turtles or perhaps even the monk seals - a shy yet endangered creature who may honour you with a photo opportunity if you're really fortunate! By travelling by boat, you'll also have the advantage of seeing a different perspective to other visitors - you'll get the chance to see some secluded little beaches and coves, and perhaps even some impressive sea caves.

Apart from the more 'organic' experiences you can enjoy while staying at our hotel in Cyprus, you can also enjoy the usual holiday activities; maybe you'll take the kids on a banana boat ride or hire a jet ski, or you can explore the many stunning Byzantine churches and local eateries. Perhaps you'll even head a little further afield one day and hit the shops - perfect for a girls' day out, and the boys can play a round on one of the championship golf courses that have been built in the area.
