The new urban lifestyle
16 March 2012
As from next month, April 2012, the five star COLUMBIA Beach Resort in Pissouri Bay Cyprus will re-launch their award-winning* spa under a new name. Now called Hébe, it is inspired by the mythical Greek goddess of youth of the same name, daughter of Zeus and cup-bearer of ambrosia (divine nectar that it was claimed would bring the gods eternal youth).
In time for the Easter break the Hébe Spa will offer the leading luxury British spa and skincare brand Elemis, known for their unique massage sequences and power-boosting facials. Elemis therapies and treatments will be available alongside the existing holistic anti-ageing beauty and spa range from Monte Carlo, Daniele de Winter Monaco. Daniele de Winter is exclusive to the Columbia Beach Resort in Cyprus. Also new to the Hébe Spa is the introduction of a Medi-Spa range with three aesthetic treatments for the face and body that mimic cosmetic surgery without invasive needles or chemicals.
To complete the new menu the Hébe Spa will be launching their own bespoke Signature Treatments based on Cyprus’s finest natural ingredients. The island is renowned for its rich soil and high quality produce which is exported worldwide. Essential oils from Cyprus will be used in massages and lavender flowers in body scrubs for example; ideal for guests who look for a more natural approach to spa.
Spa manager Ms Victoria Gladunova comments: “Spa facilities are very important to the clientele of the Columbia Beach Resort. Many of our guests like to experience treatments here that they can replicate when they return home and Elemis with its broad distribution fits perfectly.”
“Many of our guests from across Europe are also looking for highly dynamic treatments,” Victoria continues, “and the Medi-Spa menu addresses this continually evolving market. Similarly, we have regular guests who look for natural products and by developing our own treatments they can be sure of high quality local ingredients in their therapies.”
Spa facilities at the Columbia Beach Resort have been a key element in this hotel’s success since it opened nearly 10 years ago. Located at the heart of the hotel’s main building, a spectacular 80m lagoon style pool flows into the spa linking the outside with inside the building. The 1,050sq m spa boasts five treatment rooms, a spa bath, plunge pool, sauna and steam room. Numerous relaxation beds, a consultation area, a hair salon and a retail section all help to make this intimate and cosy spa welcoming and effective. There has been redecoration throughout the spa as part of the re-launch and introduction of the new spa menu.
The spa also features fitness facilities including a 90 sq m gym equipped by Precor, two squash courts and an exercise studio with a regular programme of exercise and relaxation classes. For a more active break guest can use the flood-lit tennis courts on site and mountain bikes making the most of numerous trails for all abilities. Pissouri Bay offers warm clean waters and reliable mid-strength winds making near perfect conditions to learn water-sports such wind-surfing. Last year a new five star PADI scuba diving facility was launched at the Resort’s sister property the Columbia Beachotel next door where guests as young as 10 years old can discover scuba-diving or work towards a PADI qualification. Golf enthusiasts benefit from Cyprus’s mild year round climate and four championship courses in the vicinity.
The Columbia Beach Resort is one of the island's most exclusive hotels with a stunning location on the 2km Blue Flag beach of Pissouri Bay. The distinctive architecture of the Resort is inspired by local Cypriot villages featuring low rise buildings in local stone. The sloping roofs furnished with reclaimed terracotta tiles and shutters on the windows and abundance of natural wood give the resort a discreetly aged and traditional look. The stylish and well-appointed accommodation is arranged in 'villas' clustered around the lagoon style pool surrounded by rugged cliffs and acres of vineyards in the valley behind.
This hotel is the ultimate in discreet opulence, a secluded hideaway where the stylish accommodation is matched by cuisine excellence created by renowned chefs. The Cyprus Meze and other local specialities in the Resort’s Apollo Taverna are the best way to sample the cuisine of the island. A new gourmet Italian restaurant Bacchus is the creation of the Resort’s award-winning Chef de Cuisine Mr Ioannis Giakoumidis. A selection of beach, pool and hotel bars enables guests to make the most of the magnificent Mediterranean views.
