Good News for Cyprus Tourism as an Increase in Demand Leads to Increased Flights

Cyprus tourism is set to meet with a boost, following recent news that due to popular demand, Monarch Airlines will be increasing its flight schedules to the popular holiday destination. Reasons for Cyprus’s popularity are many, but some of its draws for tourists include beautiful beaches, stunning mountains, clear blue seas and year-round sunshine. Cyprus tourism has also benefited in more recent years from the addition of some top quality luxury hotels, including many with award-winning facilities.

In just one year, Cyprus tourism figures for flights to Larnaca showed an increase of thirteen percent, with in excess of thirteen thousand holiday makers flying into the Cyprus airport in March last year. This March, 2011, in direct response to this, Monarch Airlines will be increasing their provision of flights to the island, as well as additional programmes to Spain and Portugal. Monarch have also cited ‘phenomenal demand’ as their decision to bring forward the launch of their new flight schedule from UK departure points Manchester and London Gatwick, to the Cypriot airport of Paphos. These new flight plans weren’t due to launch until May, but with Cyprus tourism booming, they have listened to the needs of their customers and launched the new flights to Cyprus early.

Flights to Cyprus and Paphos

The increased flight schedules will mean more happy sun-seekers heading to the island and improving the Cyprus tourism economy. Monarch has a reputation for cheap flights - opening the doors to these stunning shores for more and more eager tourists wanting to sample a taste of the Cypriot lifestyle. Monarch can also arrange travel insurance and car hire for your Cyprus holiday, helping to provide a comprehensive service to ensure that your holiday is plain sailing, or perhaps that should that be plane sailing!

Other recent news has seen Greek travel agents, Kavaliero Viajes, vow to create new links between Cyprus’s Paphos airport and 12 other popular destinations in Europe by direct flights. Aimed at travellers over 55 years old, these flights will further support Cyprus tourism as well as the travel industry in other parts of the EU.

This news has been well received by Paphos Mayor, Savvas Vergas, who recognises the advantages for the Cyprus tourist industry. Kavaliero Viajes has confirmed that destinations directly served from Paphos on a weekly basis will include Greece, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Austria, for the period of mid-March to the end of May. Further routes are expected to be announced in the future.
