Meet Dona Evangelou – helping you to enjoy a Cyprus holiday full of magic

Dona Evangelou, front of house manager at our five-star Columbia Beach Resort, is committed to helping you have a Cyprus holiday to remember. Passionate about her home island, Dona wants to share the wonderful experiences that Cyprus has to offer with our guests. Having worked for the Columbia Beach Resort for 9 years, Dona has a very good idea of what our guests want from their Cyprus holidays and goes to every length to make sure that they get it!

 

Dona is truly passionate about Cypriot culture and as such helps guests to explore the island’s fabulous offerings; she does this through her travelogue and itineraries that she has developed specifically for guests sharing their Cyprus holiday with us. From our wonderful location in Pissouri, Dona directs our guests on a variety of different routes, making sure that there really is something for everyone, regardless of what type of Cyprus holiday they wish to experience.

 

If history is something that interests you, Dona’s route to Paphos could well be the one for you - amazing excavations and archaeological discoveries are abundant in this UNESCO World Heritage site, giving you a historic Cyprus holiday that will really blow your mind. If you are the outdoors type and you love nature just as Dona does, the incredible flora and fauna of the island can be explored by visiting the local Troodos Mountains. With distinctive geology and lush forests, the Troodos mountain range is also home to many rare birds of prey - including the moufflon, a species that you will only ever see on a holiday in Cyprus, as it is entirely unique to the island.

Another one of Dona’s favourite routes is a journey into Limassol, where you can combine modern, cosmopolitan cafe culture with a visit to the historic old quarter of the town. In order to make sure that she is giving her guests a real, honest taste of Cyprus, Dona spends time with her family travelling the routes and itineraries that she recommends. One of her favourite places in Cyprus is Lania, a village full of charm and character, with a wonderful artistic atmosphere.

However you wish to spend your Cyprus holiday, Dona can point you in the right direction. Perhaps you want to enjoy some traditional food in a local taverna, or maybe you want to be directed to the very best places in which to purchase souvenirs, to remind you of your holiday in Cyprus – we are well known for our fine crafts and Dona recommends looking out for terracotta pottery, silverware, beautiful handmade lace or some of the delicious locally produced wines. Dona also recognises that some guests would just like to relax by the pool, enjoy the hotel’s premium facilities or perhaps wander along the beach and feel the kiss of the warm Mediterranean Sea breeze.

Dona’s passion and enthusiasm for helping guests to enjoy their Cyprus holiday is clear, so whether you want to be pointed in the direction of medieval chapels, beautiful nature walks, or a local golf course just ask Dona and she’ll be delighted to help. If you want to try something a little different, Dona will do her very best to make the necessary arrangements – she once organised a helicopter trip for one of our visitors! As Dona says: “For me this is not just a job, it is my life” - this is evidenced by the fact that many guests who have stayed at our resort for their Cyprus holidays have established long lasting friendships with Dona, due to her warm, friendly personality and helpful nature.
