Events for your Cyprus Holiday in June - Cypriot-Russian Festival

Now enjoying its sixth year, the Cypriot-Russian festival is a celebration of all things Russian and is a collaboration between the Russian Embassy, Russian newspaper Vestnik Kipra and the Limassol Municipality.

 

Limassol Mayor, Andreas Christou, is delighted to welcome a fantastic blend of exhibitions, performances and concerts once again this year and invites visitors and locals alike to come along and have some fun for the one day event on June 4th. Following the success of previous events, the Cypriot-Russian festival is a unique chance to promote the relationship between the Cypriot and Russian communities.

 

Recognising the importance of using cultural events to support inter-country relationships, Russian Ambassador Vyacheslav Shumskiy believes that these celebrations are a much welcome addition to political and economical efforts to do the same. It is a chance for locals and visitors on their Cyprus holidays to sample a taste of Russian art and tradition, all under the blue skies and sunshine of our beautiful island.

Event Highlights For Your Cyprus Holiday Cultural Experience

If you’re due to be in Cyprus for your holiday on June 4th, head into Limassol for the start of the Cypriot-Russian festival at 3 o’clock. Highlights include an opening ceremony at 7 p.m. and an energetic performance by Russian pop group Reflex at 9 p.m. If you stay around until the end, the festival will finish with a fabulous firework display. Despite a host of other events across Cyprus during June, President of the Republic Demetris Christofias has agreed to attend the opening of this fabulous cultural festival.

 

The Cypriot-Russian festival is one of many events across the calendar that will assist in Andreas Christou’s efforts for Limassol to gain the coveted status of European Culture Capital in 2017.
