Your Cyprus Holiday - Events Throughout the Year

If you’ve chosen Cyprus as your holiday destination this year, there’s sure to be something exciting happening somewhere on the island for you to enjoy. Here’s a month by month rundown of festivals and entertainment you might want to check out during your holiday in Cyprus.

January

You’ll be able to watch the New Year International Regatta in Limassol in early January and the Epiphany Celebrations on the 6th that take place across coastal towns if you take your holiday in Cyprus at the beginning of the year.

February

The Limassol and Paphos Carnivals, in their respective towns, take place in late February/early March. The Limassol Carnival lasts for 11 days and Paphos hosts 2 smaller versions – great fun for your Cyprus holiday. The Cyprus Sunshine Cup (international mountain biking competition) also runs at around the same time.

March

March is a busy month if you want plenty to see on your holiday in Cyprus; the Spring Historic Car Rally takes place at the start of the month, as does the 3 day Dance Platform event. The Cyprus Rally and Cyprus Marathon are also big March events, in addition to the fabulous Fashion Week in Nicosia.

April

April is a good month for a holiday in Cyprus if you like music – Limassol hosts the Berengaria International Music Festival, while Nicosia has its 2 week long Ledra Music Soloists International Festival. If you take your Cyprus holiday during April/May, you might get to join in the Easter celebrations that the Cypriots love so much – or if you’re a golf lover, you could even consider entering the Cyprus Amateur Open!

May

May is a mixed bag for Cyprus holiday makers; Limassol hosts the European Dance Festival and also the Anthestiria Flower Festival. Classic cars race in the Aphrodite Rally and Paphos holds its International Chamber Music Festival.

June

If you’re on your Cyprus holiday during the Pentecost, join in some water fight fun during the Festival of the Flood, or if you want something a little more cultural, enjoy performances at the Shakespeare Festival, staged at the beautiful Kourion Amphitheatre.

July

July presents another chance to enjoy the magical setting of the Kourion Amphitheatre during the International Music Festival and the Larnaka Summer Festival also offers theatrical performances and musical shows. Global music dominates the Ethnic Festival and mid-July sees a weekend of dance at the Great Ballet Companies festival in Limassol.

August

If you want a wine-tasting holiday, Cyprus holds its very own Wine Festival in August/September and a trip to Paphos will allow you to enjoy the operatic Aphrodite Festival.

September

The Kypria festival runs through September/October and is a celebration across all forms of the arts. The funky Urban Soul Festival and Ayia Napa Festival also take place in late September – both well worth a look if you’re taking a holiday in Cyprus at this time of year.

October

An October holiday in Cyprus brings a second chance to enjoy Cyprus Fashion Week and also the massive international Lemesia sporting event. If your holiday in Cyprus falls on the 1st of October, you will see the island come alive with Independence Day Celebrations.

November

Watch classic cars venture over the winding mountain roads during the Forest Park Rally, or watch marathon runners taking part in the Cyprus International 4-Day Challenge.

December

If a winter holiday in Cyprus is what you’re after, come and join in the Christmas festivities and celebrations!
