Natural experiences and cultural pleasure: Schleswig-Holstein has much more to offer than water, meadows, dykes and cows – and especially around COLUMBIA Hotel Casino Travemünde. The seaside resort of Travemünde itself is well worth more than just a short tour. Located a quarter of an hour away, Lübeck, the north's capital city of culture, whets your appetite for extended cultural trips. And in Travemünde's hinterland, Holstein's charming Switzerland impresses with its stunning landscape.
Over the past 20 years, however, the "land between the seas" has particularly made a name for itself far beyond Germany's borders with the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival. Each year, the festival, which was initiated by Frantz and Leonard Bernstein, extends an invitation to over two hundred concerts, musical celebrations and children's musical events. Traditionally, a concert in the historic ballroom at COLUMBIA Hotel Travemünde is also on the agenda.
The annual "Shake the Sea" concert in the same location has also become a virtual classic. Each spring, high-ranking musicians incite their audience to swing their stuff with a fast-paced mixture of jazz, blues and boogie-woogie.
