The “Castle Ortenburg” is located high above Markt Ortenburg. In its current form as a Renaissance palace it was built in the year 1562. However, the interior of the halls was not completed until 1800. Both art and interior design reflects two centuries. A special feature is the precious ceiling of the chapel. This ceiling, made of five different types of wood, is one of the most important Renaissance wooden-ceilings of Germany. Other art treasures are the great hall and the Renaissance courtyard. Now the Castle museum is the “Castle Ortenburg”.
